As Chinese New Year slowly comes into view, many businesses in China begin to shift into a gentler rhythm 🌱 Before the holiday truly starts, there is a tradition you’ll see almost everywhere, from startups to large corporations: 年会/Annual Party, the year-end gathering.
It’s not just a team event. 年会 is a unique mix of celebration 🎉, performances 💃, business summary 📊, internal marketing moment 📣, a stage for recognition 🏆 and encouragements 💰. Teams look back at the year, leaders share direction, performances add a playful touch 🎭, and moments of promotion, awards and gifts 🎁 take center stage.
What stands out to me is how many roles this single event carries. Festive and strategic at the same time. Serious and joyful. Very different from the more clearly separated team event formats we often see in Germany. 年会 creates a clear pause before everyone heads home, reconnects with family, and resets for the year ahead 🧧
A quiet reminder, as the week begins, that how we close a year can be just as meaningful as how we open the next one. I am curious, how’s the celebration like in other different regions, in the place where you from?
